Young Writers Collective (Workshops) | The Literature Centre
Our Young Writers programs are for avid readers and writers in Years 6 to Year Available face-to-face or online. Formerly called Talented Young Writers' Young writers. Our extensive line-up of Australian Authors are scheduled to present workshops in these locations each year:, young writers. It has been a challenge to set the program but we're thrilled with the outcome. Download your copy below and book in now for by emailing writers young writers. The purpose of Young Writers Collective is to nurture a group of young people over several years by exposing them to superb Australian Authors, but also enabling them to meet and form friendships with other like-minded readers and writers.
The students find these one day workshops informative, practical, intense, inspiring and fun. Enrolled students commit to one full young writers in each of the four school terms.
Once the year is completed 4 daysparticipants are invited to return each consecutive year to engage with new Authors and to further develop their skills. The Authors who work with us are carefully chosen for their list of critically acclaimed publications in many genre, a warm and empowering presentation style, different personalities and backgrounds, and a varied approach to the young writers of writing. The Literature Centre's Director or Education Officers young writers the room each day, young writers, working alongside the presenting Author.

To young writers disappointment, please ensure timely communication with our staff as workshop dates do book out. All attending adults and students over 16 years old will be required to check-in via the SAFE Young writers app when they arrive at our Centre QR code or writtenas per WA COVID regulations. Duration: Students attend 1 day per term, 4 days per year. A different Author presents each term. Suitable: Year 6 to Year Year levels scheduled for different dates. For many years we've received superb testimonials from teachers and feedback from participating students about the worth of our unique program, young writers.
Read below some recent feedback I think the Young Writers Collective was brilliant! It taught me skills I would have never known otherwise. It lets young budding writers flourish, grow and hone their skills. I really enjoyed this workshop. It was so encouraging and inspirational, young writers.
I enjoyed writing lists and descriptions. All the helpers were nice. I am very excited to do the other workshops this year. The Young Writers Program was amazing and I think Deb Fitzpatrick is a spectacular Author. She gave us lots of tricks to make our ideas flow onto the page smoothly. Definitely a day worth missing school for, young writers. Learning such great writing tips and styles in the fantasy genre from the fantastic author Meg Caddy was such an honour.
I will no doubt take away a lot from this and apply it to further school work and short stories, young writers. I would absolutely recommend it to all young writers and non-writers. A thoroughly enjoyable day. The author AJ Betts was such an engaging speaker and I can see that the students really enjoyed it. I particularly liked the way young writers had different strategies for generating ideas for writing.
Some of them will be useful for the classroom. I would also like to share my appreciation for the staff here at The Literature Centre. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The author Meg Caddy had a great ability to connect with students of this age group.
The students particularly appreciated the quiet time they had throughout the day to pen their ideas and flex their creative muscles.
I think today has been a very interesting and well-paced day. The author Meg Caddy speaks very clearly and does well to engage her teenage audience. Ample time is given to actually applying the creative writing skills she is teaching and the activities build on each other in a seamless manner.
It is awesome to see the students engaged with creative writing and so excited to share their ideas with their peers and Meg.
